In the survey I made and sent out to my family and friends earlier in the year, I got feedback that gave me the impression that Black and Gold was the best option. I too thought this would look the best and give a nice clean feel. After testing out the colors I came to the realization black and gold was not what I wanted the color scheme of my magazine to be. The colors cheapened the look of the magazine and it didn't fit what I wanted to give off. In a way this magazine is a representation of me and if I don't feel like the two colors matched my style, I wasn't going to hesitate to change it. I want this magazine to be something i'm proud of sharing and posting to gain publicity.
After I ruled out the black and gold I decided to play around with other color schemes. I immediately knew that the brown and black was the way to go. These colors give off a sophisticated style with a feeing of luxury. I wanted to utilize the different shades of brown in a unique way. With my cover page a made the background a light brown, with darker brown overlay. Even when adding the black text on top of the darker brown it still pops and grabs the readers attention.
When designing my table of contents I inverted the colors from the front page. I thought this was a very creative idea. I was worried about the black text but it was still able to pop. This was when I figured out the theme for the rest of the magazine. I came up with the idea of as the reader progresses through the magazine the pages will get darker. The more in depth the darker it'll get. I tested this out with my double page spread to see what the darkest will look like.
Overall i'm very happy with the layout and the colors i picked. I feel it looks very sleek and clean which was my goal from the start. The cover is definitely eye appealing and will gain lots of attention.
