Cover Page Analysis

These three cover examples fit in my hair genre. Each of these magazine covers include simple background colors which makes the hair accentuate. All of the covers use fonts that are uniform which contributes to the overall presence. The covers highlight specific features of each celebrity on the cover. Each cover also has a large masthead of "hair" or "beauty" that stands out to the reader.

The main image is showing American model. She is modeling with a big bun that takes up a majority of the upper half of the magazine. The masthead is a shade of brighter pink than her clothing which makes it pop out and become one of the most noticeable things on the cover. The color pink and purple used in this cover may represent femininity, while the blue wording contrasts to bring attention to the sub headings, which relates to the picture. The font used is very elegant looking, however the font isn't entirely capitalized. Using a change in font size and color helps to add personality to the page and makes all the cover lines legible and easy to read.


The main image is of a women who is wearing all white clothing and purple dyed hair. Her stylist might've chosen this color white to wear because it represents the new year, with fresh styles and new beginnings. The white wording is very fitting for this cover and the placement is over the women's dark purple hair to stand out and also draw attention to the hairstyle. The neutral and purple colors is eye-catching as only the hair style stands out with the colorless background and purple subheadings to compliment the dyed hair. The font and colors fits in perfectly with the exotic hairstyle.


Glamour hair is a very prominent hair magazine that targets mostly towards women. The magazine include 4 different types of hairstyles all on the cover by captioning them on how they can get more information inside the magazine. The Magazine not only includes White American women but also includes African American women with different hair texture and styles for a larger target market. This method of including individuals who have short, long, curly, and straight hair will definitely expand the potential readers for this Magazine. The utilization of the three words, "Summer, Style, and Reset," is very much affective because these words describe a styles for the upcoming Summer season, and style options for readers who would like to alter their hairstyle.
